Albania

The Romanian soldiers buried on the territory of Albania are the prisoners taken by the Austro-Hungarian troops during World War I, 1916-1918.

According to the data we have at the present, 103 Romanian soldiers are buried in: Durres (2), Elbasan (76), Shkodra (15), Valona (10).


Armenia

The Romanian soldiers buried in Armenia are the ones who died as prisoners in the Soviet concentration camps.

According to the data we have, 175 Romanian soldiers are buried in Armenia, but the locations haven't been identified.

 

Azerbaidjan

The Romanian soldiers buried on the territory of France are the ones who died as prisoners of war during World War I. The Romanian prisoners kept in France in the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine, at that time belonging to the German Empire, were divided into labour groups and sent to work in military areas.

Many of them died here because of the hard conditions and illnesses. According to the data we have now, the number of the Romanian soldiers buried in France is approx. 2,746, and there are 46 burial places.

The main cities where the Romanian heroes rest in peace are: Dieuse (947), Haguenau (472), Soultzmatt (680), Labry (256), Sarrebourg (224), Maubenge (80) and other cities (111).

 

Georgia

The Romanian soldiers buried in Georgia are the ones who died as prisoners in the Soviet concentration camps.

According to the data we have, 303 Romanian soldiers are buried in Georgia, but the locations haven't been identified.

 

Germany

The Romanian soldiers buried on the territory of Germany died as prisoners during the two World Wars.

According to the data we have at the present, approx. 3,500 Romanian soldiers died in Germany during World War I. They are buried in: Zwikau (120), Veil am Rhein (53), Mannheim (62), Worms (153), Schaeferthal (72), Ulm (99). During World War II, between 1944-1945, approx. 229 Romanian soldiers died as prisoners. They lots for the Romanian soldiers are in Berlin-Neukolln (12), Hamburg-Bergerdorf (12), Minden (12), Hannover (11), Soldan (10).

 

Greece

The Romanian soldiers buried on the territory of Greece are the ones who died in the war prisoners'camps during World War I.

In the cemetery in the city of Drama there are 97 Romanian soldiers buried, prisoners taken by the Central Powers.

 

Hungary

The Romanian soldiers buried in Hungary are the prisoners from World War I or the ones fallen in the battles of 1944-1945. Up to the present, the burial places of the soldiers who died during World War I haven't been identified precisely. We have identified cemeteries in Ostffyasszonyfa (between 4.300-12,000) and Sulysap (unknown number). In the battles fought by the Romanian troops in Hungary, many soldiers died in the line of duty.

The ones who died in these battles are buried in over 470 military cemeteries and lots and monuments were raised in their honor in over 19 cities. The main cities where the Romanian soldiers are buried are: Aszalo (238), Gyor (200), Hajduboszormeny (236), Megyaszo (1,614), Miskolc (704), Nyregyhaza (308), Rakosliget-Budapesta (164), Szarfold (272), other cities (4,830).

 

Italy

The Romanian soldiers buried in Italy are the ones fallen during World War I. Accoridng to the data we have, we identified at the present 1,189 soldiers.

The main cities where the Romanian soldiers are buried are: Casale D'Altamura (165), Trento (109), Avezano (137), Bolazaro (54), Udine (56), Piedimelze (69), Totoli (47), Milano (18), and in other cities (434).

 

Kazahstan

The Romanian soldiers buried in Kazahstan are the ones who died as prisoners of war in World War II.

According to the data we have, the number of the deceased is approx. 940, buried in Akmolinsk (40), Western Kazahstan (50) and other cities (850).

 

Latvia

The Romanian soldier buried in Latvia died in a Soviet concentration camp during World War I, but the location hasn`t been identified.

 

Lithuania

The Romanian soldiers buried in Lituania are the ones who died in the Soviet concentration camps during World War II.

Uzbekistan

The Romanian soldiers buried in Uzbekistan are the ones who died as prisoners in the Soviet concentration camps.

According to the data we have, 10 Romanian soldiers are buried in Uzbekistan, but the locations haven't been identified.

 

Former Yugoslavia

The Romanian soldiers buried in the former Yugoslavia are the ones who died during World War I. According tot the data we have, there are 448 soldiers who died as prisoners on the territory of Slovenia. They are buried in the cemeteries from Brje pri Komnu, Lublijana (80), Rence, Skofja-Loka, Ukanc (2).

In Bosnia-Herzegovina there are 69 Romanian soldiers buried in the cemeteries in Sarajevo (32) and Zenica (28).
In Croatia there is one Romanian soldier buried in Zagreb.

According to the data we have now, there are about 3,439 Romanian soldiers buried in Serbia and Muntenegru. They were prisoners taken by the Austro-Hungarian troops during 1916-1918. Larger Romanian cemeteries are in the cities: Kotor (162), Nis (215), Smedorovo (2,458).

In Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M) there are 1,114 Romanian soldiers buried, died as prisoners during World War I. The Romanian cemeteries are in the cities: Gradska (241), Skopje (153), Veles (664), other cities (56).
